There's so much more involved to a wedding than renting a facility. Presented below is necessary information on renting audiovisual equipment, making sleeping accomodations, and finding catering. Parking options, maps, linen options, and alcohol policy information are also covered.

Lodging Accommodations

Adjacent to the Post Chapel, our 180 comfortable hotel rooms are available for your out of town guests.  Enjoy spectacular views of the valley while you sleep in the greatest of comfort. Make your reservations today on our homepage or by calling (801) 587-1000.  

 

Rentals Available

Tables and chairs for all wedding events being held at the University Guest House, Chapel, Officers Club, and Commanders House are included in the rental rates. Bandstand furniture is available in limited quantities.

A reset fee per room will be applied for any resets to your setup during your event.

Linen

We have linen available in limited colors begnning at $5 dollars per linen. Linen must be ordered 2 weeks in advance of your event. Wedding parties may also provide their own linen or obtain linen from their caterer.

Catering

All weddings at the University Guest House, Commanders House, Officers Club, and Bandstand facilities must be catered (no food is allowed in the Chapel). Chartwells is the on-campus caterer and may be used for catering your wedding event. If you do not wish to have Chartwells cater your event, you may choose a caterer from our Preferred Caterers list

Alcohol Policies

Alcohol service may be permitted in the University Guest House Hotel, The Officers Club, The Bandstand, and The Commanders House only under the following circumstances:

  • Alcohol must be provided by a caterer on our approved list of caterers.
  • An Alcohol Service Request form must be completed and approved by the University Guest House & Conference Center
  • Service of alcohol may only be permitted in buildings listed above.
  • Building must be closed to the general public during the event.
  • Lessee must comply with all state laws regarding service and consumption of alcohol, and agree to assume liability for any claims resulting from the service or consumption of alcohol at the event.
  • Cash Bars are not allowed on the University of Utah Campus

Parking

Any wedding event being held in the evening (after 6:00 pm) or on the weekend can park in Fort Douglas lots without a fee, on a space available basis.

Parking lots located in Fort Douglas are patrolled by University of Utah Parking Services weekdays from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm. Any event needing parking during these times may select from the following two options.

  • Individual vehicle passes can be purchased at the University Guest House
    for $5.00* per day.
  • A special event-parking moratorium $55.00*, will allow day visitors to park in the lot without a pass. 
    Note: this moratorium does not guarentee a set number of available parking spaces.
