General Maintenance Worker -Full-Time

The General Maintenance Worker works in the Maintenance Department at the University Guest House & Conference Center, the hotel on campus; this person reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. Providing outstanding guest service to guests as well as Guest House employees is imperative to supporting our mission of “Complete Guest Satisfaction”.

This position must prioritize and change the course of action on the fly. Must have a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of the team but also be able to self-motivate and manage time well when working alone. Candidates should be open to working weekend and evening shifts, extra hours and time off may be available.

We are committed to providing a safe work environment. This means stretching, safety tips, and yes… following the rules. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, stand/walk for long periods/distances, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach. A demonstrated knowledge of general maintenance and related tool safety; the ability to safely set up and climb ladders; and a valid Utah driver’s license are required.

Maintenance team members must demonstrate human relations and effective communication skills; perform routine and preventative maintenance including minor plumbing repairs, carpentry repair work, lock changes, and minor electrical work; minor repairs and troubleshooting on building HVAC systems; paint walls, doors, and trim; repair sheetrock and wallpaper; repair and install carpet, tile, and other floor coverings as necessary. Team members follow the Supervisor’s instructions to ensure work orders are completed in a timely manner. Must complete routine checks on buildings and machinery to determine maintenance required to ensure proper operation. Must transport supplies and equipment as needed, and assist in maintaining tools and equipment. This position may include some janitorial services as needed. A background check, paid for by the department, is required.
