Additional Information


All events at the University Guest House, Commanders House, Officers Club, and Bandstand facilities must be catered (no food is allowed in the Chapel). Chartwells is the on-campus caterer and may be used to cater your event. If you do not wish to have Chartwells cater your event, you may choose a caterer from our Suggested Caterers list.

Please note: These are not contracted vendors that have been selected through a procurement process. A procurement process for purchases over $5,000 may be required for departments. Please contact Purchasing with questions.

Alcohol Policies

Alcohol service may be permitted in the University Guest House, the Officers Club, and the Commanders House only under the following circumstances:

  • Alcohol must be provided by a caterer on our approved list of caterers.
  • An Alcohol Service Request form must be completed and approved by the University Guest House & Conference Center and University administration.
  • Service of alcohol may only be permitted in buildings listed above.
  • Building must be closed to the general public during the event.
  • Renter must comply with all state laws regarding service and consumption of alcohol, and agree to assume liability for any claims resulting from the service or consumption of alcohol at the event.
  • Cash Bars are not allowed anywhere on the University of Utah Campus


Parking lots located in Fort Douglas are patrolled by University of Utah Commuter Services weekdays from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm. Any event needing parking during these times may select from the following options.

  • Individual vehicle validation can be purchased at the University Guest House for $10.00* per day on a space available basis.
  • A special event parking moratorium ($75.00 - $100.00*), will allow day visitors to park in the lot without a pass. 
  • Only specified lots are available for moratorium. Event Coordinators work with you to determine the best parking options available.
    Note: Parking moratoriums do not guarantee a set number of available parking spaces, only that lots will not be patrolled by U of U Commuter Services.

Linen is available for rent from the University Guest House for events hosted in the conference center. For events, such as dinners, receptions, vendor expos, linen is available in limited colors beginning at $5 dollars per linen, per day. Linen must be ordered 3 weeks in advance of your event. Groups may also provide their own linen or obtain linen from their caterer.
